Defensive Driving Course

From 6:00PM to 9:00PM

Herkimer County is offering the six-hour Defensive Driving Course to Herkimer County residents and non-residents. The course will be offered on Monday, September 30 and Tuesday, October 1. The class will be from 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM. Students need to attend both nights. It will be held at the 911 Building, 71 Reservoir Road, near the Herkimer College Campus. Payment is $35.00 and includes all books and materials. Once you make your payment you will be enrolled in the class. So enroll early. Upon completion of the classroom training, participants are eligible for a reduction in New York State Points and Insurance. Payment and enrollment is made at the Department of Motor Vehicles, 109 Mary Street, Suite 1111, Herkimer, NY 13350. For further information, please call 315-867-1130.

On Saturday, September 7th, Katlyn Pierce was involved in a horseback riding incident. During this fall, she sustained serious injuries including a fractured pelvis and she fractured both of her hips. She was taken to Albany Medical Center and has since undergone surgeries. She has a long road of rehabilitation ahead of her. She has also incurred several medical expenses. Katlyn is a 23 year old single mother of a beautiful, energetic two year old boy who misses his mother at home with him. Once she leaves Albany Medical Center, she will be sent to a rehab facility to continue her recovery. She will be unable to work as a Vet Tech at the Johnstown Animal Clinic during her recovery. Her family and friends are hosting a fun-filled benefit the weekend of October 4th – 6th at Meco BallPark. The day will be filled with softball, volleyball and cornHole tournaments, food, raffles and more. Thank you for your support and generosity.
