A local Pop Warner cheer team, Kuyahoora Cougars traveled to Walt Disney World to compete in the national competition after winning at the local level here in the Tri-valley league and again in New Jersey at the regional level. The result of extraordinary efforts paid off in a National title on Tuesday afternoon. They're hosting a National Champions Welcome Home parade/official escort. The parade route will run through Poland, Newport, and Middleville, with Newport hosting a celebration afterward at the firehouse (7370 Main Street).
Along with Santa & Mrs. Claus handing out presents to the children, there will be a Christmas Chinese Auction, refreshments and door prizes.
H.A.L.O. (Helping Animals Live Organization) is holding their 6th annual “Tree of Love” fundraiser in memory and honor of our beloved pets, family members and friends. This year’s Tree is dedicated in honor of a very special person who has been a voice for homeless animals in our community for many years, Faye Bunk, the co-founder of H.A.L.O. The Tree will be showcased in the lobby of Adirondack Bank, 500 E. Main Street, Little Falls, for the month of December. There will be a special “Tree Lighting Ceremony” at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 8. For every $5.00 donation to H.A.L.O., there will be a ornament placed on the Tree in memory or honor of a special pet or person.
