The Town of Minden will hold its 5th annual History Fair in Haslett Park in downtown Fort Plain and admission is free of charge to all. The event is a chance for local history enthusiasts to show their collections and exchange information on the history of Fort Plain, the Town of Minden and greater Montgomery County. There will be many historical displays, demonstrations and exhibits by local residents and historians and collectors. Amongst the fun are an Old Tyme Movie Theatre, Old Farmer’s Market, scavenger hunt, and new this year will be the Chocolate Jumbles Baking Contest. There will be a historical walking tour of the village starting at 1 pm. This year’s event will also offer some “kid friendly” family fun with 18th century toys & games, German Heritage food for sale and free Stewart’s Ice Cream. Those with large collections may reserve table space for exhibition but residents are encouraged to bring their own interesting “pieces of history” for exhibit under the tent. For additional information or to set up a table at the fair please call Rob Carter, Town of Minden Historian, at 518-993-1023 or send an email to the firstname.lastname@example.org.
