Halloween Party

Pause 4 All Paws animal rescue is having a free Halloween Party at Tractor Supply Company in Herkimer. Fall pet photos courtesy of “The Button Guy,” apple bobbing for the kids…and the dogs, kids can play Plinko with a winner every time, and there’s baked goods. Costumes encouraged!

Literary Teas

The Jordanville Federated Church is starting its series of "Literary Teas" in the Social Hall of the church at 209 Main Street, Jordanville. Come enjoy an afternoon of a traditional High Tea (three courses) and readings of short stories appropriate to the season. All are encouraged to attend. Please call 866-3353 or 858-2798 to let us know you are coming so we know how many pots of tea to have ready. A free will offering (suggested donation $9.00) will be taken and divided between the church and the Jordanville Public Library. This series of “Literary Teas” will continue every other month throughout the winter, Dec., Feb, and April.

Holiday Party

Roast Pork Dinner

Roast pork dinner with all the trimmings. Plus music, raffles and door prizes. The Chapter 31 Women Of The Moose are holding a Harvest Dinner-Dance at the Ilion/Frankfort VFW. Dinner served from 5 till 6. Music by John Seymour. $15 for dinner and music or $5 music only. Info.: Marion 315-894-5447.

Haunted Investigation

The 1834 Herkimer County Jail in Herkimer has a fascinating history of famous inmates like the Adirondack Tragedy's Chester Gillette and the last woman to be hanged in New York State, Roxalana Druse. The public will have an opportunity to learn more about these inmates and take part in a paranormal investigation with members of the "New York Shadow Chasers." There will be two sessions of 6:00-7:30 p.m. and 8:00-9:30 p.m., limited to 30 people each. The cost is $20.00/person and tickets are requested in advance, available at the Herkimer County Historical Society or by calling Katie Nichols at 315-866-1563. This event is a fundraiser for the "Friends of Historic Herkimer County," a non-profit, all volunteer group who are trying to raise funds to restore the 1834 Jail.

Trunk Or Treat

Town of Glen Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its annual “Trunk or Treat” in the Fire House parking lot, with an award for best decorated trunk!!  More info.: 518-688-7897.

Haunted School

Screams in the distance like fingernails down a chalkboard; will you make it through? Will you? We dare you to give it a try! Relive your worst nightmares from the slasher films you hate to love and villains you love to hate! Serving up your worst nightmares, the Senior Class invites you to 291 Main St, Middleburgh, to test your nerve at the Haunted School event. Screaming begins at 7pm and the terror will end at 9:30. This event, lead by 2020 Senior Class Officers, is open to all but do take caution–this is not intended for the young folk or easily frightened. Strobe lights, loud noises and severed body parts should be expected. This fundraising event is $3 per student and $5 for adults and all money raised will benefit the students.
