The Oneida County Board of Legislators has approved the creation of 23 part-time special patrol officers, to be placed in county schools. Five school districts are under contract with the Sheriff’s Department to hire them.
The districts will match $500,000 the county has given to create the positions, at $25.48 an hour. The Sheriff’s plan is for them to be in the schools when the students come back, in September.
