Utica Police Officer Injured After Responding to a Fight on Varick Street Over the Weekend

A Utica Police Officer was hurt while responding to a fight on Varick Street Saturday night. It was just before midnight, on Varick and Hamilton; Police Officers went to break up a fight when they say 28-year-old Tyrese Lewis, of Utica, punched an officer in the face and resisted arrest.

The officer suffered knee and ankle injuries and will be out of work for several days. Lewis is charged with felony assault and other charges.
