MVHS Looks to Cuts & Closure due to Millions in Losses

UTICA – Mohawk Valley Health System will have to take some painful steps to ensure their long-term financial survival, including the elimination of positions, extended or added furloughs and the closing of Faxton Urgent Care.

President and CEO Darlene Stromstad says federal relief funds have only stabilized MVHS in the short term, but the hospital is still operating at a loss of $5 to $7 million per month.

Stromstad plans to release more details on their recovery plans in the coming weeks.
