Wednesday Marks First Derecho Storm to Impact CNY Since 1998

CNY – The storm prediction center has classified Wednesday’s severe storms as a derecho-a line of powerful storms that last at least six hours and produce widespread winds over 60 miles per hour.

The storms went from Lake Ontario, through Central New York, to, New England.

The last derecho to impact Central New York happened during the Labor Day storms of 1998.
